Michele Mottola at Special Events Consulting says:

“It is obvious that David Tucker loves what he does as his pictures always represent the essence of the person who is on the other end of the camera. He is warm, compassionate and so unbelievably talented.   David always scouts out his locations prior and makes many considerations that include LIGHTING,  background, accessibility, timing and ease for guests being photographed all before the event is in full swing. This pro activeness absolutely contributes to the success of any event.  I know my clients are in great hands when they select David Tucker, it is off my list of things to worry about.”

Julie-Ann and Brant couldn’t have been a more fun couple to work with. They were game to try something a little different, and suggested we do the engagement shoot at the Mary O’Malley Park at the Mystic River Reservation. This park is located around the base of the Tobin Bridge which displays it’s awesome reach over the Mystic River. Julie-Ann had said, “we’d like to do something a little gritty and industrial as well”, and there’s plenty of that type of scenery in this industrial port area of Chelsea.

I’d never really explored this area, and when I came an hour and a half early to scout I was in heaven!! What a great location, especially for an artistic wedding engagement photo shoot in Boston!! The bridge from this angle is breathtaking!! The industrial area is just so fascinating to me, reminds me of my Cleveland roots. I used to crawl up into the train cars in the industrial and steel mill areas of downtown Cleveland with my big 4×5 camera. You know, the kind where you’re under the black cloth to focus.

These guys had the theatrical streak going, and know how to have fun together. It’s so easy to fall in love with these two, we had a blast!! Even the dark brooding weather played in our favor. I even managed to find a pink semi truck to match Julie-Ann’s outfit. And the giant LNG tanker in twilight wasn’t too bad either.

Please enjoy the shots and leave your comments and best wishes below, thanks!!

Here’s a bit more info on the Mary O’Malley Park in the Mystic River Reservation:
Acquired from the federal government after the closing of the historic Chelsea Naval Hospital, the park has striking views of the harbor and the Tobin Bridge over the Mystic River. A boat landing and shelter are located on an historic granite pier and a wind sculpture by William Wainwright enlivens the waterfront. Tennis courts and a large open lawn area for concerts and picnics are also available. The park is open year-round, dawn to dusk.

Corona and Denny’s wedding was at the spectacular Barn at Gibbet Hill in Groton MA. The expansive sky offered a dramatic display of clouds, blue sky, and late afternoon light. A few drops of rain fell ever so briefly, then fled to honor this wonderful event.

Corona’s sisters and friends carried her dress across the landscape to the bridal room, where champagne was awaiting. What a beautiful and elegant dress, love the design! It was magical seeing Corona transformed into an amazingly beautiful bride! Corona is a Cambodian Goddess, and I’m not sure of Denny’s heritage, but let’s just say, “he’s tall, and good looking.”

These two stunning people had their romantic “first meeting of the day” in the middle of this expansive and rolling landscape. The family joined them shortly thereafter for the formal photos. It’s a special time, and it’s always nice to have the pictures behind us to enjoy the rest of the day without interruption.

The ceremony was a lovely time of sharing blessings, prayers, and beautiful readings. What a treat to have the ceremony in this inspiring setting. And let’s not forget about “Stormy” their ever faithful dog. Perhaps the several drops of rain and dark clouds were actually in his honor.

I would say it’s hard to believe that these two met in a subway in Cambridge, but love’s complete disregard for behaving in the expected ways never ceases to amaze me. Jallaluddin Rumi, the great Sufi poet said,

“Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere
They’re in each other all along.”

Toward the end of the evening friends and family had a blast at the mini photo studio we set up. Corona and Denny brought a box of crazy props. These guys were absolutely hysterical, what good fun!! Please enjoy the slideshow, and leave your best wishes for Corona and Denny. Thanks!!

Kerri and Dave are the most wonderful couple, I absolutely adore them. The whole day was illuminated by their vibrant energy. We had a spectacular day where we started out at the Charles Hotel in Harvard Square Cambridge, strolled by the Charles River, and then headed over to the lovely St. Joseph’s Chapel in Lincoln. The celebration culminated at the Pierce House also in Lincoln. Please enjoy the slideshow of pictures and leave your comments and best wishes below. Thanks.
