I’ve enjoyed photographing many weddings at the Lyman Estate in Waltham Ma., it’s a spectacular location. The beauty of the mansion and it’s classic details, the surrounding lawn, patio, and gardens make for a relaxing and elegant wedding day atmosphere. Not to mention it’s like being a kid in a candy store for me the photographer!
Don’t forget about the very cool greenhouse behind the Lyman Estate Mansion, another interesting part of the Estate that sometimes can be overlooked. The folks who work at the Lyman are a joy to work with, and provide impeccable service for their clients. Please enjoy this slideshow from a few weddings I’ve photographed at the Lyman Estate.
For history buffs, and lovers of fine architecture, here are some further details. The Lyman Estate, also known as The Vale, was built in 1793 by wealthy shipping magnate Theodore Lyman. Originally used as a summer home, the Federal-style mansion was designed by renowned Salem architect Samuel McIntire. The Estate remained in the Lyman family until 1952, when the five Lyman heirs donated it to the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities, now known as Historic New England. The property is now a National Historic Landmark.
